 About Us

About Us

Cretemix was founded in 1980 by Christopher Hicks. The company consisted of one ready-mix batching plant based in New Germany (Durban, South Africa) and had five Nissan ready-mix trucks.

In August 2005, Cretemix was bought by Doug Brown and Steve Norcott and a third partner, who has subsequently retired. Since 2005, Cretemix has expanded rapidly and grown from strength to strength. There are now four batching plants –

1) New Germany, which supplies the greater Durban area
2) Waterfall, which supplies the Upper Highway area
3) Cato Ridge, which supplies an area stretching from Hammarsdale in the East up to Howick in the West.
4) Shaka’s Head, which supplies the Dolphin Coast and surrounding areas

Cretemix has a large fleet of trucks, which allows it to be more competitive in the service they offer as well as their pricing structures.

In 2011, Cretemix became agents in the sale of recycled metallurgical slag concrete aggregate. Cretemix recycles slag for use in concrete products.
